Shibari/Kinbaku/Rigger online groups can be a scary place to be when you’re starting out in rope bondage. Things get very complex, very fast, and you can add to that some Japanese terminology, disputes over the “best” way to do one tie or another and even opposing camps regarding what types of rope to use.
If you’re a serious hobbyist then there is a lifetime of learning to be had with rope bondage, but there are many people who want a little bondage fun without diving too deep into it and making it a lifestyle.
What do you really need to know to have some fun with your ropes? If you know a simple single column tie, a simple two column tie and some basic rope bondage safety, then you’ve got the tools for all kinds of creative kinky mischief.
It’s only as complicated as you want to make it.
This is a regular series of illustrated guides. You can find the others here.
